RE: EPDM Rubber Roof Care

I noticed the link was to 303 as well. However the article did not mention 303 products.. It said to keep petroleum distillates away from EDPM, it cited DICOR (a leading manufacturer of products for EDPM roofs) and provided not a single suggestion on the first page as to what to use.. Of course.. I've known to keep oil and rubber apart for many years

RE: Want to use 2 Laptops

One option with your verizon card is to get a card-router.. Linksys and at least one other company (Cradlepoint?) Make them You have to get the proper model for your air card (IE: Verizon and AT&T/T-Mobile air cards, and thus routers, are different) but you drop your Air Card into the router, and then it's just like the DSL at home... Only in some markets.. FASTER

RE: Can I use factory sat dish with Dish prepaid?

You are mistaken.. Dual LNB's can run TWO receivers What you need is a TWIN LNB (Two LNB's on one antenna) and Winegard's dish is not a Twin. IT's a solo.. Don't know if it's a single or dual, but it's a solo. To get both 110 and 119 you need to re-point

RE: setting up 2 laptops off cell phone.

There are two ways to do it.. Though one of 'em you need an air card Method 1: MAC BRIDGE You "Bridge" the dial-up adapter (For that is how the cell phone usually appears) to the Wi-Fi adapter in AD-HOCK mode and connect to it with the 2nd comuter,, This requires computer #1 be turned on full time Method 2: Router method.. Needs an Air Card.. Several companies make Air-Card routers,, These routers can accept an air card instead of a Cable or DSL modem, you move your SIM from the phone to the air card Method 3.. I am not sure if this is possible but... If there is a company making a router that uses USB on the WAN side (USB modem to connect to the internet) and your phone can tether via USB and needs no special driver.

RE: Wireless printer through Blue Tooth or WIFI?

Printer has 10 connections?? ? There are only six wires max on a USB cable., 4 standard (The other two are power) The answer is that any USB printer should hook to a USBBlue tooth adapter Any USB printer should hook to a USBWi-Fi adapter and any USB printer should hook to a USBLAN (cat-5/6) adapter.. SHOULD.. I've not seen one that could not however you may have to play a game or two with the device settings on the computer end.. I did. Now a Centronics printer (Which can indeed use 10 line interface) or an RS-232 printer (likewise) is another story 10 line is an RS-232 standard by the way, a printer does not need all 10, but may need 9 of 'em

RE: Motosat HD

Well... I have said for some time that I thought DirecTV would be dropping 110/119 in favor of putting all HD content on the Ka band birds. When (if) this happens your slimline-5 dish will continue to work even as it is working now.. It's just heaver and perhaps larger than you need. I expect DirecTV to come out with a new "Slimmer-3" dish when it happens. Motosat should, then come out with either an upgrade or a new product (The upgrade, really a down-grade, will be a simple dish replacement) As for the size of the dish.. Just now it's got to cover a 20 degree slice of sky from 99 all the way to 119, with a bit of wiggle room added to enable you to aim. That takes a good size dish.. Also on the near center LNB's the larger dish will show considerably higher gain. I did wonder if they needed the bigger dish due to being KA band but checked and found that KA stands for "K-Above" (Ku is K-Under and "K" is in between them) this refers to the frequency so KA is shorter wavelengths than KU, and thus, in theory, does not need as large a dish (Though there is nothing wrong with a larger dish, as I said bigger = more gain, thus it's like the Fat-King ads "The bigger the burger the fatter..ur, the better the burger) The dish is bigger to give more gain.

RE: a beeping we can't figure out where it's coming from

Slow beeps usually indicate a low battery in a smoke, CO or Propane detector This will usually be one short beep, usually at least 30 seconds or more between beeps. Rapid beeping that comes and goes.. Usually comes at night or in the early morning, then goes after sunrise can be a real bugger to find... Unless you have an A&E Weather pro awning (it is the low-temp alarm on the wind sensor) Now that one dang near drove me beepy for a few months till I found it. .Just hit the "Disable" switch to slience it but be aware this sensor is a PITA to begin with and disabling the sensor may also take out the ignition interlock This rig has TMPS.. Brakes for the towed, Inverter, A&E weather pro, Propane, smoke and CO detectors, Jacks and a whle lot more all of which get beepy from time to time.. One of the things I think they should distribute with every beeper is a CD or mini-cd with "Sounds of your device" on it

RE: Create a destop icon containing desktop icons???

I have several such icons.. Just create a folder somewhere and drop your icons in it.. Then create a shorcut to it on the desktop For example one folder on this laptop is called "Ham Radio" It is a single icon on the desktop.. I open it and there is a utility to read or set the memories on my FT-51r, another for my TS-2000, Hamscope and Digipan sit there, and some other software as well. Makes it easy to find all my ham stuff.

RE: warped brake rotors?????

I agree. Improper lug nut tightening.. Also improper installation of a towed brake system, also improper setting on the towed brake system. Also dragging brakes, And improper DRIVER methods (Riding the brakes with the left foot) Manufacturing defect can do it too..

RE: 30 amp plug-50 amp genny?

The one for 30 is for the house save for one air conditioner. The 20 is for that air conditioner If you have 2 A/C units on 30 amps normally you can run only one of 'em (you might be able to run 'em both but nothing else) On generator, thanks to that 20 amp line, you can run 'em both,, One is on just that breaker If you have 2 A/C units and want to run 'em both on shore power with a 30 amp rig it is also possible http://www.psrv.net uses that 2nd circuit to run the 2'nd A/C using a seperate 20 amp power cord.

RE: Dead house batteries.

You need to spend some more time on shore/generator power. To fully charge those batteries takes 6-8 hours minimum. There are several possible issues 1: solar panels not working (how big are they) 2: Thing may have been left in the "ON" state that should have been turned off 3: Too many clouds or other "Things" preventing the solar from impacting the panels. 4: Other

RE: How long should an AGM Optima Battery last?

pnichols, I fully agree.. In fact you pointed out why you have to do a custom program for AGM's Xantrex has several AGM profiles, including one for Optima But none of them allow for equalization cause it is so rarely needed with AGM's However Lifeline does suggest Equalization on rare occasions.. So I had to program my Xantrex custom to get the proper bulk, absorption, float and EQUALIZE settings.. Since the pre-sets did not include the 4th stage at all.

RE: Winterizing Fridge With Icemaker

This I understand.. You don't winterize the ice maker itself, you winterize the water valve and lines leading to it. As for the ice maker,, After you blow out the lines let it cycle one more time

RE: Gout

Who do you believe? I think maybe your best all along would have been to see a doctor because this is "obviously" not the site for medical advice. Well, in defense of the person who recommended apple cider.. There are acids and there are acids. It is quite possible some are good and some are bad... I am not a doctor (Though I have contributed to medical text books) I don't even play one on TV (I will add it had nothing to do with gout.. I do some technical writing and I wrote an article that,, Well, Wound up in a medical text on a different condition.. The text was authored, for the most part, by a genuine doctor, specialist in the field. He liked my chapter though.) However I fully agree with you that "See a doctor" is the best advice, This forum is not the place to get medical advice and that is why I suggested seeing a doctor in the portion of my post you quoted. Another thing to think about is seeing multiple doctors. I am not sure even what specialty would deal with Gout, thus see a GP or internist first and ask them. In my own life I have an internist.. He's good for most things but for some stuff I see a specialist.. And it usually takes me about 10 seconds or less to figure out why I see the specialists (They clearly know much more about THEIR SPECIALTY than my internist However one does not go to a portraitist for a tooth ache

RE: Can I drink alcohol in my RV if parked????

To ZSr22to folks who resonded to my earlier post Back when I was working I read supreme court decisions.. (I think this one was a state Supreme court, not SCOTUS) and at least one case there were no keys in the ignition.. Forget what the Supremes decided. To Wilburg... I agree., As I said, "Jacks down" I'd think more "home" but jacks up in a parking lot I'd think more "Motor" But then I'm a coffee-holic

RE: Newbie Fridge Question

Shore power path.. Power goes to the Fridge via a circuit breaker, there may also be a fuse within the fridge (on the control board) the control board contains either an electronic switch or relay that turns on power to the heat element which generates heat heating the "Boiler" chamber and causing the action to happen. Possible problems 1: Fail of shore power 2: Tripped breaker 3: Loose screw (many RVers have a few screws loose, I found about half the screws in my breaker box were overly loose) 4: Other electrical issue preventing power from getting to the outlet that powers the frige 5: Not plugged in 6: Bad control board 7: Bad relay 8: Bad wires control board to heat element 9: Bad heat element (Very common in fact) Then we get the exotic errors like clogged flue preventing heat from escaping. This one is on the list of "Causes of RV fires" by the way. NOTE: this chart is not brand specific.. It applies to all RV friges

RE: Newbie to RV------help confused by all the numbers

You need to remember salesman rule #1.. GET THE SIGNATURE ON THE BOTTOM LINE And say whatever you have to to do this Salesmen, for the most part, are not truck drivers (I do know a few exceptions) and are not towing experts.. They have no clue as to how much your truck can safely tow. Never ask a salesman if your truck can tow a trailer because they only know how to say "No Problem" (or something like that) when it comes to that kind of thing. NOTE: This does not mean your truck can't tow it.. Just means I don't know You forgot to tell us how big the trailer you are looking at is. Second, Try to avoid the tow limt by at least 10-20 percent if you can. you said your truck can tow 7500.. Try to keep it under 7000, or better yet 6500 Second. Weight Distributing Hitch.. .. Good idea for any but the smallest of trailers (Smallest is 2,000 pounds or less) Trailer Braking System.. I suspect GM has one that plugs in on your Silverado, if not I'm partial to the Teknosha line.. but then I happen to have grown up in Teknosha (it's a township and village and yes, where the company is located) It is very popular, and the P-3 is considered among the best. You want a brake controller, and you want to know how to use it BEFORE you hook up for the first time I can not stress the importance of a proper brake system enough. I can say this... If your rig won't go.. Well.. That (Generally) is safe (Middle lane of the freeway perhaps not, but generally, if you are not blocking traffic, you are safe) But a rig that won't STOP is a killer

RE: How long should Walk thru at dealership take for inspecting?

How long it SHOULD take depends a lot on you... If it's your very first Motor Home or delux trailer figure 2-4 days, I'm not kidding, there is a lot to learn In my case I did a bunch of research, read the owner's manual in advance of receiving the rig, read a bunch of other manuals and got the 30 minute special I did not find out till later how much I missed but I think I filled in most of the gaps :) Do pay special attention to the location of fuses and circuit breakers.. I'm still finding some of the more hidden ones.. Also ask where pipes run.. (So you know what to keep warm if it gets suddenly chilly out) And do not loose the URL for this forum!!!!!!!!!!!
